Training Management

Let's face it -- even the best training and development programs need careful, detailed management. I have managed key leadership development and career development programs for major corporations, across several locations and using blended learning.

Key Programs that I have managed include:

  • Foundations of Leadership at GE Financial Assurnace
  • LeaderShift at AIG Direct and 21st Century Insurance
  • New Hire Orientation at GE Financial Assurance and AIG Direct
  • Preventing and Eliminating Sexual Harassment at GE FInancial Assurnace
My approach to training and program management includes a careful needs analysis consisting of in--person interviews, phone calls, online surveys and focus groups to identify the needs that match up closely with organization goals. If people need to know how to do it and don't -- a careful needs analysis will not only identify that but also the ways to address the gaps.

I have rolled out many programs by selecting, recruiting, and training subject matter experts, supervisors and managers to deliver the programs. Training isn't enough, though. After each train-the-trainer group I have carefully followed-up, supported with resources and presence, and monitored the results in these five key areas:

  1. Customer Satisfaction
  2. Team Member Satisfaction
  3. Increases in Revenue
  4. Decreases in Expenses
  5. Compliance with regulatory requirements

My experience has been that as a training manager (and leader in general) if you take care of these five essentials, what I call The Big Five, you are succeeding at your job of developing people and growing the organization.
